In addition to issues surrounding Enterprise Architecture, Hilbert Computing specializes in infrastructure software. So, what is infrastructure software? If applications software is developed to serve customers in the business units of the enterprise, then infrastructure software is developed to serve customers that are in the operational support areas and customers that are the applications developers.

Every application has non-functional requirements that the important to enterprise, but aren't as tangible as the requirements coming from the business community. One example of infrastructure code that has received attention in the media and the executive level is application security . While some of the requirements for security may be derived from the business customers, most of those needs will come from the security architecture. The implementation of a security framework should also serve the needs of the applications developers, specifically to decouple security from the business functionality to enable the applications developers to focus on business specifications, not security specifications. The customers for infrastructure code in this case are the applications developers and the IT security organization.

Infrastructure software also includes the development and use of applications frameworks. In this case, the customer for the software are applications developers. Not all IT professionals have the same skills or the same depth of skills. Implementing an application framework leverages the skills of those who understand software development at an architectural level. It empowers those programmers who are proficient in delivering business functionality wihout having to slow their development by dealing with operational or other infrastructure issues.

Legacy integration is another example of infrastructure code. Hilbert Computing has experience in several operating systems and languages. We can help you integrate your applications using a variety of industry techniques, from asynchronous messaging to Service Oriented Architecture.

Hilbert Computing has over twenty years of experience in this area and we are passionate about it. This area is consistently overlooked within most enterprises, but it is so important to creating a stable, supportable environment for our customers in the business units.

It's not always about carpets, cabinets and curtains. Sometimes it matters how they poured the basement.
